KAY THURSTON Kay Thurston, 70, Centralia, MO passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at her home. She was born April 17, 1952, in Mexico, MO the daughter of the late Laverne and Lorene (Hanna) Heckart. On July 11, 1969, she was united in marriage to Ronald Thurston. In addition to her husband Ronald of 53 years, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter Kristin Thurston-McMenemy and her husband Johnny of Overland Park, KS; one son Justin Thurston of Shawnee, KS; one brother Ray Heckart of Montgomery City, MO; one nephew Ian Heckart of Phoenix, AZ; other relatives and many dear friends. Kay worked as a cook for the Centralia R-6 School District and the Head Start Program. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Harrison Farmwomen’s Association and the Parkview Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking and dressing up for every occasion and holiday, especially Christmas. Kay was one crafty woman who loved spending time with her family and all of her friends. Graveside services will be 10:00 am Monday, March 6, 2023, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO.
