JESSE E. FOWLER
Jesse E. Fowler, 92, Wentzville, MO passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Boulevard Senior Living in Wentzville, MO. He was born July 3, 1930, and grew up on a farm east of Moberly, MO, the son of the late T.D. (Doc) and Edna (White) Fowler. On May 10, 1952, north of Centralia, MO, he was united in marriage to Ida “Sue” (Williams) Fowler, the daughter of the late Louie and Audrey Williams. They were about to celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary when Sue preceded him in death on November 24, 2019.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by nieces Melissa Dean of Wentzville, MO, Linda Summers of St. Joseph, MO and Lisa Winslow of Laguna Woods, CA; nephews Craig Williams of the State of Florida and Mark Fowler of Dallas, TX; several great nieces and nephews; several great great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his wife Sue, one daughter Karen Sue Fowler, three brothers June B. Fowler, Col. USAF, Retired with 32 years of service, Dr. Glenwood Fowler, and Danny Fowler preceded him in death.
Jesse went to work for Wabash Railroad in 1948 where he learned telegraphy, thanks to C.O. Richardson who helped him get the job. He had to learn station work, so he would go to Clifton Hill, MO. He rode his bike and would hitch hike to town for three months and was never late. Later, he became a train dispatcher. Jesse enlisted in the USAF. on January 5, 1951, and was on flying status, flying B-17 Air Sea Rescue and later flew B-50 Strategic Air Command “SAC”. Jesse worked for the railroad for fifteen years, and later he and Sue purchased M&W Sales, a Manufacturer Rep. Agency, and a profitable business. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Moberly, MO, Riverside Baptist, Denver and Sunland Village East, HOA, Mesa Arizona, Centralia, and Mexico Masonic Lodges and was past president of the Centralia Jaycees.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, January 2, 2023, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO. Interment will be in the Centralia City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until service time on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO.
