JAMES BARRY DURK

 

James Barry Durk, 62, Centralia, MO passed away Sunday December 22, 2024, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. He was born November 15, 1962, in Columbia, MO the son of the late Floyd B. Durk and Carolyn (Rentschler) Pingelton.

 

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother Carolyn Pingelton of Centralia, his stepmother Bonnie Durk of Centralia, his sister Brenda Broxton and her husband Ron of Columbia, his niece Katelin Watson, nephews Jacob Watson and Evan Broxton and his great niece Callie; Shelby McVey, her husband David and his children McKenzie and Kaitlyn of Springhill, Kansas; other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Durk, his stepfather Bill Pingelton and by his beloved dog Izzy.

 

James was born and raised in Columbia, MO. He graduated from Hickman High School and then continued his studies at the University of Missouri – Columbia. During his college years James was an active member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity where many life-long friendships were made. 

 

He worked for many years at MBS as a buying supervisor. He was an active member of the Columbia Elks Lodge, served on the Mt. Zion Cemetery Board and supported his fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Missouri in Columbia. James was a friend; always happy to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed cars, good BBQ and a well-kept lawn. 

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery near Centralia, MO. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until service time on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO.
