CONNIE L. COX
Connie Cox, 85, of Centralia, Missouri passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall in Centralia on December 16, 2021. Connie was a loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a loyal friend. She had endless love and unlimited time for her family and friends. Her smile and laugh lit up every room. Her loving kindness was experienced by everyone who knew her. Connie loved the Lord and enjoyed singing old gospel hymns in the Church choir and at home while playing her piano. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Centralia.
Connie was born on June 30, 1936, to the late H. O. and Ola Baker. On July 30, 1955, she was united in marriage with Gerald (Jerry) Cox. Connie had a sister, Joy Baker, who preceded her in death, and a brother Herbert Oswald Baker III, who resides in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a lifelong resident of Centralia.
Connie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jerry Cox; daughter Melanie Cox and her significant other, Keith Klepper of Columbia, Missouri; son Mark Cox and his wife Lisa of Nashville, Tennessee; son Marty Cox and his wife Robyn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren Sara DeWitt, Chance Cox, Courtney Stoerker, Joshua Cox, Kaitlyn Cox, Jeremiah Cox and Jacob Cox; seven great grandchildren Andrew DeWitt, Baylor DeWitt, Ariel Cox, Oliver Cox, Alex Nelson, Evan Nelson and Owen Nelson, several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends.
Connie was an employee of A. B. Chance Company for nearly 30 years. After retiring, she and Jerry participated in various local charitable organizations, including the Centralia Senior Center and Meals on Wheels. She was also a member of the Senior Line Dancing group for several years.
Connie was strong in her faith and an active member of her church and choir. Connie had a beautiful voice and sang in trios, duets, and solos for many years. She was also a gifted seamstress and quilter. Connie loved to play card games and always cherished time spent with family and friends. She touched the lives of so many and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Boone County Hospice and the staff at Heritage Hall for the love and support they provided to our family during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO. Interment will be in the Centralia City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until service time on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO.
