CLYDE H. McCUBBIN Clyde H. McCubbin, 91, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his home. Funeral services under the direction of Oliver Funeral Home will be Thursday, September 30, 2021 2:00 p.m. at Perche Baptist Church in northern Boone County with visitation at the church two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Perche Cemetery. Clyde Harrison “Bud” McCubbin was born in Boone County near Englewood, MO. He was the seventh child of thirteen born to Clate Ross and Janie Lovine (Keys) McCubbin. Clyde attended seven different schools as his family moved around over the years. He married his New Bloomfield High School sweetheart Beulah Belle Cave in 1949 at Dixie Church in Callaway County, MO. Clyde and Beulah lived in Columbia for a couple of years before following the Lord’s direction to move to Dallas/Fort Worth, TX to work and start their family. They moved back to Missouri again following the Lord’s direction, bought a farm and completed their family in the Clark/Sturgeon/Harrisburg area. Clyde and Beulah were married 72 years. Clyde was an excellent cook. He and Beulah ran the Wheel-In restaurant at the Bebe Drive-in in Centralia, MO. Clyde also cooked for Mr. Gordon at his restaurant and at the University of Missouri-Columbia dorm cafeterias. Clyde was a consummate salesman. He sold vacuum cleaners, appliances, and furniture for his own businesses, Sears, and J C Penny’s. His last enterprise before retiring was a general construction and swimming pool sales/installation business. Clyde could tell a good story and was a bit of a prankster. Clyde loved the Lord, and they talked often. He was a member and deacon at Perche Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, led Bible studies, helped with building construction/restoration, led Brotherhood activities, occasionally filled the pulpit, and served the community. He was active in the prison ministry and was dedicated to sharing the gospel. Clyde is survived by his four children and their spouses: Hazel (Randy) Thornhill, Charles (Yolette) McCubbin, Debby (Gary) Maiden, Cindy (Marty) Bowne; ten grandchildren: Barbi (Fritz) Schnarre, Mikal (Jennifer) Thornhill, Jared (Morgunn) Thornhill, Charles Allen (Brandi) McCubbin, Sarah (Dan deceased) McCubbin, Rachel (Oudong) Vongsay, Jonathan McCubbin, Benjamin (Kim) Maiden, Heather (Richie) McMenomy, Joni (Dan) Carr, Devon (Kimmy) Bowne; 18 great-grandchildren: Alee, Brecca, and Myals Thornhill; Jillian, Gabby, and Silas Thornhill; Faith McCubbin; Jaydan McCubbin; Sloane McCubbin; Michael, Andrew, and Aryssa Vongsay; Madison Rollins; Alexis and Keegan Maiden; Autumn, Lydia, and Willow McMenomy; five siblings: J C “Jay” McCubbins, Ruth Ketchum, Jimmy “Jim” McCubbin, Virginia Hinten, Richard McCubbin; many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beulah; his siblings: Gershom “Mac” McCubbin, Aquila McCubbin, McKinneth “Kenny” McCubbin, Silas “Si” McCubbin, Howard McCubbin, Kathryn “Katie” Ward, Billy “Bill” McCubbin; one grandson: Daniel Clyde McCubbin. Memorial donations are suggested to the Perche Cemetery Working Fund.
