CAROL MAXINE BOWNE
Carol Maxine Bowne, 78, Sturgeon, MO passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at Columbia Post-Acute in Columbia, MO surrounded by her family. She was born January 16, 1944, in Centralia, MO the daughter of the late Russell and Alice (Ott) Neal. On December 29, 1962, she was united in marriage to John R. “Johnnie” Bowne. Johnnie preceded her in death on July 15, 2017.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son Doug Bowne and his wife Jessica; one daughter Robin Hubble and her husband Kenney; a daughter-in-law Lisa Bowne-Reeves and her husband Bob; two sisters Myrtle Ritchie and her husband Bob and Geraldine Tinker; eight grandchildren Ryan Bowne and his wife Tara, Samantha Riley and her husband Aaron, Rachel Dickey and her husband Taylor, Courtney Crowley and her husband Michael, Josh Bowne, Alana Bowne and Jarred, Jacob Bowne and Landon Hubble; five great-grandchildren Tristen, Parker, Jack, Tinsley and Elliot; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, one son Tim Bowne, one great grandson Ryker, four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Carol began working at Shelter Insurance after graduating from Sturgeon High School. After that she started working at the Sturgeon State Bank until her son Tim was born. At this time, Carol became a homemaker at the family farm. Once the kids were older, she re-entered the work force as an executive assistant at Silvey Insurance. She then went to work for Van Matre & Harrison Law Firm. She was off for a few years and then became secretary for the Sturgeon R-V School District. Her faith was strong, and she was a member of the Sturgeon Christian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Bible School Leader and volunteered for many numerous activities with her church. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed reading, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to teach all of her grandchildren how to bake, cook, and other life lessons.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Sturgeon Christian Church in Sturgeon, MO. Interment will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Sturgeon, MO. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Sturgeon Christian Church in Sturgeon, MO.
