Bert Smith

BERT S. SMITH, JR. Bert S. Smith, Jr., 96, Centralia, MO passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at the University of Missouri Hospital & Clinics in Columbia, MO. He was born April 23, 1924 in Columbia, MO the son of the late Bert S. Smith, Sr. and Ethel (Norman) Smith. On December 15, 1948 he was united in marriage to Dulcie (Mills) Smith who preceded him in death on June 13, 2015. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son Kenneth Smith and his wife Cathy of Centralia, MO; one daughter Nancy Smith of Sandy OR; four grandchildren Kaleb Smith, Korey Smith and his wife Amanda, Jonathan Williams and Kaitlyn Nunes and her husband Shaun; thirteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife one sister LeeFern Hudson preceded him in death. Bert was a graduate of Centralia High School and served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member and elder of Salt River Christian Church and enjoyed camping, attending blue-grass festivals and being outdoors watching squirrels. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Grandview Cemetery near Centralia, MO. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grandview Cemetery Fund or to the Salt River Christian Church, c/o Oliver Funeral Home, P.O. Box 125, Centralia, MO 65240.
